Description
The Chocolate Girl, by Jean-Etienne Liotard. I tried to use matching textures to make her surroundings look bigger, rather than just having her floating around on some paper or brocade backdrop. I think it turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself.
This one came into being on rather a whim and a cooincidence. I was baking brownies today, and the baking chocolate has a figure of a girl holding a tray, which I instantly recognized as the girl above, only I mistook the artist for Chardin, rather than Liotard. (you've gotta admit -- both share a similar style!)
Dated 1744-1745, her garments are delightfully early compared to the styles of the 1770s which are more common. I loooooove those cuffed elbows. I also love the fact that this is what women were wearing at the time of Bonnie Prince Charlie's Rebellion, although I doubt most Scotswomen were dressed exactly as this girl here. [/fashion history lecture]
